Creative Economy Grants Public Mural Program

The Arts Council for Long Beach is working in collaboration with the Parks, Recreation, and Marine Department and the Public Works Department of the City of Long Beach to create nine murals in parks and public facilities throughout Long Beach. The Long Beach Recovery Act Mural Program will present these new murals in communities most heavily impacted by COVID-19, with the goal of uplifting the spirit of the neighborhood and improving the experience of public spaces. This initiative will bring together community members and leaders in each council district to select local artists from the Artist Registry to create mural proposals, which residents will vote on to determine which artwork will be installed in their neighborhood. This project is funded by the Creative Economy Grants Program, which was made possible by the Long Beach Recovery Act approved by the City Council on March 16, 2021. The Creative Economy Grants Program is designed to provide direct financial aid to arts, cultural, and historical organizations in Long Beach to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Voting pop up at Recreation Park on June 27th, 2024.

Your Vote Counted!

Thank you everyone for voting for your favorite mural to be installed in your neighborhood. We received over 3,000 votes across all 9 project sites. One new mural will be installed in each of the 9 Long Beach Council Districts. The artist finalists can be viewed on this webpage. Congratulations to our finalists!
