Uptown Creative Corridor Challenge

The Uptown Creative Corridor Challenge is a community effort to beautify North Long Beach that was initiated by Council District 9, supported by Councilmember Rex Richardson, and a collaboration with Squeeze Art Collective and Arts Council for Long Beach. There were various phases to the project including Project Submission, where residents were encouraged to identify the following areas for improvement within Council District 9: vacant buildings, vacant lots, spaces to plant trees, walls to paint murals, and utility boxes; a Creative Corridor Team Development stage, where residents and artists were divided into teams to complete corridor designs and plans; and Project Execution, where teams and volunteers complete projects on each corridor.
