Omar R God

Police brutality and youth trauma is called out in Omar Howard’s work. Green, black, and red are central to the mural representing the Pan-African flag, also known as the Afro-American flag. Strong and direct messages toward the police read, “Message to the police. Don’t traumatize the youth, inspire the youth” and “Don’t just police the community, be apart of the community.” A handcuffed black male with headphones is surrounded by the words “That’s the sound of the police!!! Woop! Woop!” while blinded by the number “12” seen in his eyes as a blue “1” and a red “2”.
