Together We Make Change

Community-based art in Washington

Together We Make Change is one of the many projects and events that Habitat LA has led or been involved in since it launched its Neighborhood Revitalization efforts since 2016. Other efforts include resident leadership training, a Safe Passage program, community events like a Dia de Los Muertos celebration and a Black History Month Caravan, and facility repairs and improvements to many neighborhood partners including the Washington Middle School. Additionally, Habitat LA is working to improve housing safety and accessibility for Washington neighborhood residents by homeownership counseling, critically needed home repairs, and of course, building new affordable homes. In fact, Habitat LA’s 1,001 st home will be built in this community, as part of a 10 home affordable development on the corner of 14th, Pine, and Pacific, and in 2022, it will break ground on a 36 home development on Locust and 14th Streets. Eight artists were contracted from the Artist Registry to submit a proposal with the theme Together We Make Change.
