Structure and Flow

Claire Falkenstein

Artist Claire Falkenstein created Structure and Flow. Situated in the museums outdoor patio, the immense sculpture fountain was donated to the Long Beach Museum of Art in 1972. Claire Falkenstein developed her signature style in Italy in the late 1950’s by formulating a way to fuse glass and metal. Using the unique medium she created, Falkenstein manipulates the hard edged material to twist, turn and weave under and over one another making the metal- glass structure seem organic. The chaotic composition leads the eye to various different points as the water drips & rolls seamlessly off the metal beams and into the clear pool.
