This project consisted of temporary installations of recycled bicycles transformed into 24 public sculptures by 20 participating artists. The project was installed in conjunction with the Amgen Tour of California, a 650-mile bicycle race through California. Sculptures consisting of reused bicycle parts were installed along Long Beach streets to welcome racers and celebrants to finish-line festivities. Individual artworks were later auctioned to private collectors in order to raise funds for the Arts Council’s Eye On Design Program. Artworks now exist in private collections and are also on display at City Hall.
