Rotary Centenial Park

Philip Smith & Patrick Vogel

In 2005, Rotary International celebrated their 100th anniversary and to commemorate such a milestone, raised money to design and construct a linear, 1.2 acre park that cuts diagonally through the block. This mini park is a joint project of the Rotary Club of Long Beach and the Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation & Marine that features a solar system theme art installation of the planets, benches, turf, trees, playground equipment, a half-court basketball court, gazebo and a water play spray feature. Artist Philip Smith created the concrete planets, along with his wife Robin Smith, and artist Patrick Vogel created the central sundial.
