Mystic Tides

Dean Alexander Smith

The artist has transformed marine buoys and forged steel into five, 16′ sea anemones. Each piece, which stems gracefully from the sidewalk, weighs approximately 3,050 pounds. These sculptures provide a glimpse of the marine environment that is integral to this metropolitan coastal community. Their dynamic size and vibrant colors provide a sense of liveliness that adds to the artistic context of the East Village Arts District.
