Requested by Lowell Junior High’s principal, Douglas Newcomb, the bust is the only such piece of sculpture still extant from the FAP in Long Beach (others were created but are now missing). Newcomb viewed the sculpture as an “inspiration for students attending the James Russell Lowell Junior High School.”
