In Tagalog “malaya” means to be free and Malaya demonstrates the feeling of freedom when they perform, embracing both Filipino and American cultures as they share their ancestral, indigenous, and present lives. Malaya is dedicated to serving the city of Los Angeles and supporting the Filipino community through the artistic practice of Philippine dance and music with integrity to tradition along with innovation to inspire future generations to continue the legacy of Philippine culture in America.
