One of today’s most in-demand choreographers—recently commissioned to create a premiere for New York City Ballet—Abraham was born into the hip-hop culture of the late 1970s and incorporates an artistic upbringing of classical music and visual arts into his work. Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles, the nation’s premier Mexican folk dance company, bring their graceful choreography and colorful, elaborate costumes to Carpenter Center. Sharing the stage is Jarabe Mexicano, whose dramatic, harmonized vocals have gained them acclaim across the country. A joyride through the songbook of Mexican Folk, Rock & Roll, and Tex-Mex, including a special performance to “Remember Me” from Disney’s Coco, the two Southern California break-out ensembles join together for a joyous, one-of-a-kind performance.
