Donn Gibbs

Don Gibbs

Designed by the Long Beach architect himself, The ‘Donn Gibbs Mural’ is a collaboration between the Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association and was implemented by local artists Noel Madrid and Tracy Negrete. The geometric rendering is a vibrant shape that floats serenely on the concrete wall and plays as an optical illusion between the two-dimensional and three-dimensional. The mural evokes a mathematical rhythm of line and infinite curves. The mural is a celebration of the iconic work produced by the Long Beach architect. Donald Gibbs also designed the remarkable 18 story ‘Walter Pyramid’ on the campus of California State University Long Beach that serves as an indoor multifuntional arena.
