The Arts Council for Long Beach (ArtsLB) is excited to introduce our summer cohort of interns! This year, we have the pleasure of working with four talented and driven local college students who are contributing their skills and enthusiasm to our organization. Their involvement is a testament to the vital role internships play in providing invaluable experience to young adults and in supporting our mission to foster a vibrant arts community in Long Beach.
Meet Our Interns
- Alexa King: As the Development Intern, Alexa is focusing on the State of the Arts program. Her role is crucial in helping us secure funding and resources to continue our work in the arts.
- Miguel Zavala-Lopez: Miguel is interning with our Arts Learning department, where he is contributing to educational initiatives that make arts accessible and engaging for all ages.
- Tyler Munoz: Tyler joins our Public Art team, bringing fresh perspectives and assisting in projects that enhance the visual landscape of Long Beach with meaningful public art installations.
- Mosiah Hunter: As the Marketing Intern on our Communications team, Mosiah is spearheading our efforts to reach wider audiences and promote our projects and events.
The Impact of Internships
Hiring local college students as interns has numerous benefits for both the individuals and the community. Internships offer students real-world experience, helping them develop professional skills, build their resumes, and expand their networks. For ArtsLB, interns bring new energy, ideas, and perspectives, which are essential for innovation and growth.
Moreover, internships contribute to local economic and social development. According to a report by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), internships are a key factor in improving employment outcomes for students, providing them with a competitive edge in the job market . By offering internships, ArtsLB is helping to cultivate the next generation of leaders and professionals in the arts.
Interns in Action
This summer, our interns have been actively engaged in the community, conducting outreach for major projects such as the Long Beach Creative Economy Mural Program and the 7 for 7 project in Council District 7. These initiatives are pivotal in enhancing the cultural fabric of Long Beach, and our interns’ efforts in community engagement and project management are invaluable.
