Long Beach, CA—The Arts Council for Long Beach is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated return of the State of the Arts event. Scheduled for this Friday, September 20, at 5 PM at Alter Brewing Society, this premier gathering promises to be an unforgettable celebration. It will combine live music, engaging entertainment, distinguished guests, and an awards ceremony that showcases the best of Long Beach’s vibrant arts economy.
Griselda Suarez, Executive Director of the Arts Council for Long Beach, expressed excitement about the event, saying, “The State of the Arts is a celebration of the incredible talent and vibrant creativity that defines Long Beach. It’s an honor to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of our awardees and to bring the community together to celebrate the diversity of the creative economy. This event not only highlights the achievements of individuals and organizations but also reinforces our commitment to fostering a thriving arts culture in Long Beach.”
Awardees Include:
- James H. Ackerman Award: Councilwoman Renee Simon (ret.) – Recognized for her exceptional support of the arts in Long Beach and for casting one of the original votes to establish the Arts Council for Long Beach.
- State of the Arts Award: Al Williams / Rainbow Promotions – Celebrated for significant excellence and impact in the arts.
- Creative Economy Award: Alex Hernandez / Alex’s Bar – Honored for contributions to the creative economic development of Long Beach.
- Incite/Insight Awards: Honoring individuals, organizations, or groups that bring innovative perspectives to the arts community. This award recognizes accomplishments in various areas of the arts, such as education, artistic practice, community engagement, and arts administration.
