ABOUT

With the gracious support of the VSA Kennedy Center, the Arts Council for Long Beach (ArtsLB) presents our Mosaic Art program to youth with neurodevelopmental disabilities, specifically autism spectrum disorder. Our program takes place at Sowing Seeds of Change, an urban farm that centers on offering agricultural education and vocational training to youth with disabilities.

The Art Kit program builds on ArtsLB’s four decades of presenting high-quality arts education programming, and it has been improved and adapted using Sowing Seeds of Change’s extensive experience in working with youth with disabilities.

The program will consist of workshops that will lead sequentially to a student-designed, built, and installed mosaic at Sowing Seeds of Change’s urban farm property. Participants will learn how to design, how to safely use tools, and how to work collaboratively.

Leading the program is ArtsLB’s Lead Teaching Artist, Betty Rosen, herself a well-known mosaic artist.
