Creative Economy Grants Public Mural Program
The Arts Council for Long Beach worked in collaboration with Parks, Recreation, and Marine Department and the Public Works Department of the City of Long Beach to create nine murals in parks and public facilities throughout Long Beach. These new murals were installed in communities most heavily impacted by COVID-19, with the goal of uplifting the spirit of the neighborhood and improving the experience of public spaces. This initiative brought together community members and leaders in each council district to select local artists from our Artist Registry to create mural proposals and allowed residents to vote on the final mural designs.

A River Connects Us
The AOC7 Neighborhood Organization led a Call for Artists in collaboration with Arts Council for Long Beach to request Artist Registrants to submit proposals for a utility box project along Anaheim St. Eight artists created a utility box design with the theme A River Connects Us in mind. Eight utility boxes will be completed by vinyl wrapping the high-resolution digital artworks files.
