The Arts Council for Long Beach has set aside funds to support professional development for Long Beach professionals interested in working with indigenous groups to curate exhibitions and archives.

The conference theme is “Navigating Cultural Survival in the 21st Century” and there will be focused attention on indigenous languages. Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, near San Diego, is set to host the 12th Annual International Conference of Indigenous Archives, Libraries, and Museums on October 8-10, 2019. Tribal cultural leaders, federal agencies, funders, and others will gather to discuss the most relevant topics related to preserving and advancing Native languages, culture, and life ways.
