Public art is a defining feature of Long Beach, adding color, culture, and creativity to our neighborhoods. From murals to utility box designs, these artistic contributions shape our city’s identity. But over time, exposure to the elements, defacement, and general wear-and-tear can take a toll.

That’s where the Public Art Maintenance Microgrant comes in!

What is the Public Art Maintenance Microgrant?

This funding opportunity supports artists in restoring and protecting existing public murals and utility box artworks. Whether your work has been defaced or needs a protective coating, you can apply for up to $1,000 to cover materials and restoration costs.

Who Can Apply?

✅ Artists with publicly visible murals or utility boxes in Long Beach
✅ Original artists OR those restoring work with artist/estate permission
✅ Projects that maintain the original design

Why This Matters

Public art is more than decoration—it’s a community asset that fosters cultural identity, inspires residents, and makes Long Beach a more beautiful place to live. By keeping our murals and street art in top condition, we ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy these creative landmarks.
