For the fourth year in a row, the Arts Council has partnered with the Port of Long Beach for the Port of Long Beach PHOTO GALLERY, a three-part photography learning experience for amateur and professional photographers alike. The free program consists of a workshop taught by Port photographers, a twilight shoot aboard a boat and culminates with a photo contest and gallery exhibit in conjunction with October is Arts Month.

Last Saturday, October 1, the top three winning photographs were announced at a private artist reception. A winner was chosen in each of the following categories with one being chosen as the overall winner:

Port of the Future
Overall Winner: Future Rising by Aydin Palabiyikoglu (Right)
Interpretation of Green
Rush by Christine Smith (Left)
Humans & Machines
Night Shift by Heather Leyse (Middle)

There is still one winner to choose and the judge is you! Vote for your “Fan Favorite” gallery submission during October and be entered to win a prize yourself. The winner will be announced in early November. Click here for more details and to cast your vote. If you would like to see images from the private reception, please visit the Port of Long Beach’s Facebook page.

The exhibition is on view at the Museum of Latin American Art (628 Alamitos Avenue) and will be up through October 30. For more information on the Port of Long Beach PHOTO program, visit polb.com/photoworkshop.
