October is Arts Month! How Can I Participate?
In celebration of Arts Month, we invite you to take an active part in interacting with the arts around Long Beach! Art happens everywhere and everyday throughout our diverse and vibrant city – new murals, live music, arts education, dance classes… You name it, Long Beach has it.
Here are some fun ways to engage with the arts this October:
- Throughout October, post a photo to your Facebook and/or Instagram page and up to two sentences about how you celebrate the arts. Follow the Arts Council (Facebook, Instagram), tag us and include #OctoberIsArtsMonth. Every Friday, one lucky participant will be featured on the Arts Council’s social media and receive one of our 40th Anniversary commemorative notebooks with cover art by Long Beach artist Craig Cree Stone!
- Buy local art! When’s the last time you visited a gallery, boutique or music store in Downtown, Midtown, Uptown, Retro Row or elsewhere to see the fantastic art produced by locals? From the visual arts to music to the fashion arts, Long Beach is full of top-notch talent. Check out our Arts Map to discover galleries and shops you might not yet know about.
- Attend arts, music and cultural events! There are a large number of happenings, many of them free, taking place every day around the city. Browse the array on our Calendar of Events.
Sign-up for the Arts Council’s e-newsletter, and follow us on Facebook , Instagram and Twitter to keep up with art news and happenings!
