The Youth Poet Laureate (YPL) is a title awarded to a young individual who demonstrates talent in the arts, particularly in poetry and spoken word. The laureate uses their voice to inspire change and showcase strong leadership within their community.

The selected Youth Poet Laureate will receive a $1,500 scholarship, as well as access to mentorship and resources while engaging Long Beach youth in literary arts programming from May 2025 to April 2026. Additionally, four Youth Poet Ambassador runners-up will each receive a $500 scholarship and will participate in the year-long program alongside the laureate.
