WRITING THE FIRES: Teen Poetry Workshop
December 9, 2025 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Event Navigation
I’ll be leading a FREE creative writing/poetry workshop series for teens (~13-19) called WRITING THE FIRES. We’re coming up on a year since the LA wildfires that devastated the region in January. We have all been affected in some way. Please share with any teens who could benefit from a safe, supportive, creative space to reflect, process, express, and share their feelings and responses to the fires and the aftermath.
Climate change is upon us, and it’s today’s youth who will be inheriting the earth we leave to them.
I create nurturing, empowering containers for honesty, empathy, and learning to spread like fire, for beauty to build back from the ashes, for the alchemy of writing to leave us feeling changed.
There will be example poems, writing prompts, time to discuss, time to write, time to share, and even possibly time to get feedback. All participants will have the opportunity to be published in a subsequent anthology.
This event is offered through California Poets in the Schools and hosted in partnership with the Long Beach Public Library.
