“Join or Die” is a documentary inspired by Robert Putnam’s influential book, Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of American Community.

This film examines the decline of Americans’ participation in clubs, churches, and other social groups—and how this loss of connection has impacted democratic engagement and civic life.

At first glance, this may not seem like a documentary about design, but design is deeply intertwined with how we engage with the world and with each other. At its core, design is problem-solving. So how do we create spaces and systems that bring people together, foster belonging, and strengthen community?
