> About the Film: Mad Girls Love Song is honored to be part of the groundbreaking “California Creative Corps” pilot program, a significant initiative supported by the Arts Council for Long Beach through the California Arts Council. This initiative is dedicated to producing meaningful works of Art that celebrate the rich diversity of California communities.
Through this innovative program, 35 nonprofit organizations were matched with 35 artists across multiple disciplines to craft collaborative and impactful art that resonates with and uplifts their communities. These partnerships reach well beyond filmmaking and other artistic disciplines; they signify a pivotal moment for historically marginalized artists, empowering them to make a lasting impact on California’s vast landscape of Arts and Culture.
Mad Girls Love Song is a deeply surreal exploration of a woman’s journey through grief, employing symbolism, metaphors, and dream logic. The film delves into the intricacies of perception, memory, and romanticization, juxtaposing idealized recollections with stark realities.
Additional supporting sponsors include the Eastside Artists Initiative and the Port of Long Beach.
> Come for the screening, and stay for Gardena Cinema’s celebration of “Pride” with showings of “The Birdcage” (1996), and vendors, concessions, and LOTS of fun activities during the day! FREE PARKING all day.
