The Textile Society of America has announced its hybrid Colloquium, (re)Membering, at the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) in Long Beach, California. As the nation’s leading museum of modern and contemporary Latin American art, MOLAA will provide the venue for this program, which will be accessible in-person and via livestream. The colloquium will convene artists, designers, scholars, and cultural practitioners to explore how textiles function as repositories of memory, identity, and community, with an emphasis on Southern California creative practice. The program features a keynote address by Fafnir Adamites, a plenary presentation by artist/creative director Maria Maea, and a panel discussion including artist/designer Yasmin Mora, scientist/artist Maru García and Visions Textile Museum Executive Director Katrina Bruins. In-person attendees receive complimentary museum admission, and a recording will be provided to all registrants.
