In 2017, the Arts Council received the Artist Activating Communities grant, funded by the California Arts Council.

The program featured Artist in Residence, Martin Espino, partnered with Danny Flores of Centro C.H.A., to offer cultural enrichment and together lead local children, youth and adults through the program Empower Arts at Centro C.H.A., Admiral Kidd Park, and Silverado Park.

The program showcased cultural and artistic traditions of Latin America and Native American Tribes through dance, music and performance.

Through the generous support of the California Arts Council and the California Community Foundation, we have partnered with civic leaders, community organizations and local artists to provide arts education experiences at community centers. In 2017-2018 we concentrated programming in West and Central Long Beach. It culminated in a cultural celebration–Empower Arts West Long Beach, in partnership with the City of Long Beach, Councilmember Roberto Uranga, Long Beach Parks & Rec, and Centro C.H.A. on Saturday, May 5th, 2018.
