LONG BEACH, CA – Today, the Arts Council for Long Beach announced the 35 organizations and 35 artists selected to participate in the California Creative Corps program. Earlier this year, ArtsLB was selected by the California Arts Council as one of 15 organizations to administer the $60 Million Creative Corp program. Organizations will receive a $30,000 grant, and artists will receive a $50,000 grant with an additional $25,000 in funds to support the project. ArtsLB is awarding a total of $3,675,000 in grant funds to support this one-year program and will implement professional development mentorships to support the grantees.
“This is an exciting step in the overall mission of this statewide pilot program,” said Griselda Suarez, Executive Director of the Arts Council for Long Beach. “The organizations and artists selected out of hundreds of applications represent new opportunities to bring the arts into portions of Los Angeles and Orange Counties that represent the fabric of our communities and will benefit greatly from this year-long collaboration.”
The program funds aim to create works of art through Los Angeles and Orange County that reflect the heart of their diverse communities. This pilot program will serve as a media, community outreach, and engagement campaign to increase public health awareness to stop the spread of COVID-19, water and energy conservation education, climate mitigation, emergency preparedness, relief, and recovery, civic engagement, including voter education and outreach, and social justice.
“The California Arts Council is excited to see our partner ArtsLB move into the next phase of this project and begin
n infusing these new and innovative arts opportunities across Southern California,” said Greg Johnson, Board President of the Arts Council for Long Beach. “This program is proof positive that California remains committed to the arts and ensuring that we are intentional about breaking down barriers to access serving our most vulnerable and underserved communities.” he continued.
