William Lane
In this time of much visual assault in our daily lives, and the concurrent complexity of art making approaches, I paint and I value more than every traditional painting values.
My path is always a search for a synthesis of color and structure, the process can lead to a very reductive color statement, but often there are exceptions, abstractions with recognizable references, frequently architectural.
The sources for this and for the content within many of the ostensibly non-objective paintings are memories, often from travel. Mexico’s colors and spaces have always been very important to me. Architectural spaces, the physicality of these experiences, the felt sensations are carried into the studio and sometimes seep into the paintings.
