In every humble tree lies a hidden majesty, a silent witness to the passing of many human lifetimes. I work with my hands on a wood lathe, using sharp chisels and generations of community wisdom, to reveal that beauty by engaging in a dialogue with wood that has known both joy and grief. In each piece, the sorrow of a lost limb or tree is met with the joy of creation—a delicate tension that mirrors our own experiences of loss and renewal. For me, creation is not about control but about listening: I let each piece speak, revealing its natural form and essence much like a windchime waiting for the call of the breeze.
My craft is an homage to the bond we share with nature. In every work, the spirit of the tree tells a story of endurance, transformation, and wonder. I honor these stories by carefully processing wood into lasting works of art, primarily using trees that once graced local communities and whose lives and losses resonate with those who cherished them. These pieces serve as quiet reminders of the deep connection between humanity and the natural world.
Every finished work invites you to see beauty in the everyday, to feel grounded beneath a vast, ancient canopy, and to reclaim a responsibility often lost amid commercial and technological distractions. In a world where commodities too often replace heirloom goods, my art asks us to pause, to witness, and to cherish the life force that sustains us all.
I approach my work with the humility of one who listens to nature’s voice, always curious and questioning. It is not about imposing form but about celebrating the spirit of the wood, preserving its memory, and honoring its raw, adaptive beauty. In doing so, I gently encourage reflection on environmental stewardship and the value of genuine craftsmanship, reminding us that our world and the trees’ world are, in truth, one and the same.
