Nicholas Lamb

My work sits at the intersection of realism, street art, graffiti, and conceptual folk, drawing from the rawness of nature and the immediacy of urban life. Rooted in the natural world, my art seeks to reconnect viewers to the harmony of our planet—reminding us of a fundamental truth: people and nature are inextricably linked. We often overlook this connection, yet it’s this very link that has carried humanity forward.
As a professional chef, I’ve learned the power of breaking traditional boundaries and embracing a multi-disciplinary approach. My art extends into large-scale, community-based projects, welcoming viewers of all ages to explore nature’s beauty and wisdom in unexpected ways. For me, every piece is an invitation to slow down, to appreciate how harmony can be found in the simplest elements of life. There’s a message woven into each brushstroke: that harmony often lies where we least expect it.

Art has a unique power to make us pause, question, and reimagine. We live in a world of 8 billion people, each contributing to a vast human tapestry, but if we ignore nature and its countless fragile species, we risk unraveling that fabric. Cyndi Lauper captured it perfectly: “When you’re lost, you can look and you will find it… time after time.” I believe it’s my duty, as an artist and steward of the earth, to bring people back to nature, to instill a sense of care for all life forms, and to remind us that true progress involves honoring everything that sustains us.
In each of my works, I weave in the Fibonacci sequence—a nod to the mathematical beauty of nature, inviting curiosity and wonder. I want to reawaken a sense of discovery in my viewers, something akin to the awe we felt as children. Through the colors, lines, and forms, I aim to celebrate the diversity of nature, culture, and community, elevating those around me. Growing up on a small reservation in North Dakota, I’ve felt the importance of connection, camaraderie, and shared purpose. My journey as an artist is a call to gather and celebrate humanity’s collective spirit.

Being inspired by the Renaissance and how art sparked connection and change with humans and their role in the world to lift up and beautify our surroundings not destroy them. Together, we have the potential to create a new kind of neo-eco-renaissance through art—one that honors the vibrancy of nature, and uplifts every voice on this planet, not just the human one, into our communities is a step towards that goal. My submission to the LBAC is my way of joining that legacy, and my art—like a pen in hand—is here to light just one path among many for other artists.
