Maggie St.Thomas

A Teenager In Print

Maggie St.Thomas is a West Coast artist from Long Beach, CA. By the age of fourteen, she was a published photo-journalist capturing the Los Angeles Anarchy punk and Goth music scenes with her Nikon 35mm film cameras. One of Maggie’s most cherished moments came in 1995 when she photographed her all-time favorites, The Ramones.

“I bounced around many schools growing up, but I was fortunate to have Idyllwild Arts programs in the Summers, which helped me make sense of the noise in my life and turn it into art.” – Maggie St.Thomas

Since the early 90’s, Maggie’s photographic and journalistic works have graced the centerfolds, pages, and adorned the covers of over 300 print publication issues, including Billboard, Rolling Stone, and High Times Magazine. Her photographic career has given her the opportunity to work closely with legendary artists including Etta James, Lemmy Kilmister, Bo Diddley, Snoop Dogg, Joey Ramone, Bradley Nowell,  and many more.

Maggie’s photographs have also been featured on album covers she’s been commissioned to work on including a handful with actor/ musician Corey Feldman, and Mickey Avalon, to name a few. With each collaboration, skillfully capturing the essence of those in front of her camera with timeless finesse.

In a unique twist, Maggie ventured beyond her photographic pursuits into Death Care as a Crematory Operator, assisting those who transitioned from the realm of the living into the afterlife from February 2021- February 2024.

The Journey as An Independent Author

In October 2022, Maggie entered the world of published authors with her debut hardcover release, Still Life: The Photographs of Maggie St.Thomas. With four decades of photographic work compiled into a collection of 104 pages, the book begins with a foreword written by Exene Cervenka of the legendary band X, which beautifully sets the tone for its readers.

She is also the author of In Print: The Articles of Maggie St.Thomas (2018–2023)—a curated paperback of 39 previously digital-only articles—and Underwater Girl, both released in Fall 2023. Altogether, Maggie has self-published six books, three romance short stories, and 78 word search puzzle books designed to promote mindfulness and mental well-being, and was featured in the LA Weekly June 13-19, 2025 for her latest book Subject: PUNK.

Deeply rooted in the Long Beach community, Maggie is a visible and active local presence. She regularly participates in book readings, signings, and creative events at independent bookstores, coffeeshops, and community gatherings, and covering events like Cali Vibes (2025) and Our Generation Cares (2025). Through her art, writing, and consistent involvement, she continues to uplift and inspire her local creative scene, while preserving the stories of West Coast culture and music history.
