Liz Cervantes

Independent neon/black light watercolor artist Liz Cervantes is a native of Mexico, who immigrated to the United States to follow her dreams. An avant-garde in the film and art world, Cervantes mixes her dreams with her passion for advocacy and human rights using mixed media.

Cervantes has a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Cuautitlán Izcalli in the State of Mexico. One of the few awarded for academic excellence by the ANFEI (National Association of Colleges and Schools of Engineering) she graduated summa cum laude from her university.

Cervantes continued her studies at Lumiere Film Academy in Mexico City earning a certificate in Acting, Production Design and Art Direction.

Liz continued her studies at Los Angeles Community College, where she participated in Astronomy, Women’s Studies, Political Science and 3D Animation classes. She worked as a freelance filmmaker; designing, producing, filming and editing music videos, educational videos and travel videos. Her filmmaking skills include claymation and stop motion.

She is now a full time painter, bringing watercolor paper to life. Her diverse background serves as an inspiration for her work. Often these illustrations and paintings seep into her films, creating an eclectic mixed-media work of art where she combines all her artistic skills.

Cervantes’s creativity, intelligence and ambition are clear in her work. She is often described as a very passionate artist. These characteristics help her bring dreams to life using innovative neon/black light watercolor techniques never seen before by artists.
