I write because I am a refugee of war, estranged from land and family.
I write because I believe stories are a bridge between my ancestors and my children. I write because I believe stories are the most important inheritance we can pass on. I write because I have been traumatized by war and I want to take that pain, combine it with craft, and make art. I write because I have quit writing many times and inevitably I always return to it.
I write because when I write—I share my best self with the world.
