Katie M Dahl

Katie Dahl is best known for her collage like painting. She pieces together personal images then replicates them in paint. “The challenge is to see beyond the distraction of the conspicuous to capture its unique self. Some of my subjects are quite beautiful, others less so. My work is a juxtaposition of images that come and go during the photo choice process to the composition process and the painting process. My goal is to inspire those who see my work to look more carefully at the world around them, to discover beauty in unusual places.” She often begins with a common phrase that transforms into meaningful and inspirational pieces of art. Texture and light are major elements that are visible in her work. Katie has a background in fine arts painting and drawing, photography, wildlife conservation, marine mammal rescue and teaching art to k-12th grade students.
