Karina Vazquez

Karina Vazquez, b. 1990, is a Mexican born illustrator and muralist residing in Long Beach CA.  She creates stylized and realistic portraits  which often include clues to her culture and experiences as an immigrant. The use of airy graphite marks, organic shapes, muted colors and her use of negative space are combined to create ethereal works that provide the viewer a moment of pause. Vazquez has shown in a number of group exhibitions and has worked on public art projects that can be seen throughout a number of cities in Southern California. Such as a temporary installation at the Long Beach Airport, a mural collaboration with CASEtiFY in West Hollywood, and a mural for the Long Beach Walls Mural Festival located at the Dana Branch public library.
