Kacy Jung

Through photography, field study (artists interviews), and photo-based fabric sculpture, I challenge the idea of “social norms” and celebrate self-determining identity under capitalism. The subject usually intertwines with my immigration experiences in the USA and the pressure of being part of the disappearing middle class. My fabric represents the negotiation between individuals and society. With the combination of digital photography, mesh-like printable fabric, and hardening agents, a novel visual language is created that not only represents this distorted eco-political system across different countries but also reflects the downside of specialization and alienation on a personal level.
