Gabriel Enamorado
I am a Guatemalan-American artist, designer, and photographer, and executive director of a nonprofit arts organization. I was raised in Southeast Los Angeles, and currently reside in Long Beach, CA.
My artistic practice began in my youth, exploring graffiti art, illustration, painting, graphic design, photography, videography, website design, and event production. Operating under the pseudonym GABEONE, I photographed events, designed nightclub flyers, and created both personal and commercial mixed media art works. Beginning in 2010, a group of friends and I created HEAVYSET, a streetwear brand inspired by Los Angeles hip hop, skate and punk culture. The skills and experiences from these ventures proved to be invaluable, leading me to pursue a full-time freelance career after high school.
In 2012, I co-founded Stay Gallery, a community art space situated in the heart of Downtown Downey. The gallery hosts a range of artistic, cultural, and educational experiences for the local community. I currently serve as the executive director of Stay Arts, the parent nonprofit organization of the gallery. Stay Arts is dedicated to engaging, connecting, and empowering communities in the Southeast Los Angeles – Gateway Cities region through the arts, creative exploration, and cultural expression.
In 2017, I founded Estevan Studio, a creative studio specializing in photography, graphic design, website development, and digital consulting. I create visual identities, websites and graphic design assets for businesses and organizations in a variety of industries and I am recognized as a wedding and political campaign photographer.
I serve as a board member for The Downey Historical Society, The Downey Conservancy and the Downtown Downey Improvement Association. In my free time, I enjoy cycling, tending to my aquariums and garden, exploring my Guatemalan and Maya ancestry, parenting our dog and cats, and spending time with my family and life partner, Juliana.
