BIOGRAPHY

My mother was an artist. She did not have any formal training but she sure knew how to express herself through her paintings. I remember watching her paint from her memory of the landscapes and seascapes of New England, where she was born and raised. This was then my introduction to my love of the arts.

I was fortunate enough to earn a college degree with Art being my minor. I explored the many aspects of two and three dimensions of art at La Verne College in the 1970’s, but instead of pursuing this career I chose to follow my other love, teaching.

After teaching middle schoolers for fourteen years in multiple subjects, I pursued a masters degree in high school counseling hoping to help students navigate the trials and tribulations of high school. I loved this career for twenty two years but knew when it was time to hand the reins over to the next generation.

Now that I am retired I have naturally folded back into my love of painting. I truly enjoy myself when I paint, learning much from other artists and teachers.  I hope to continue on this wonderful path of beauty exploration until I can not.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Color is the giggle of the body’s senses. It can help you become alive and hopeful for better days ahead or allow you to take either a calming or frenzied breath that lets you know you are alive. When I paint, I paint with lots of color in mind. I choose landscapes, portraits, still-life that appeal to my sense of color. The blending of colors that evoke amazement as in the light of the sun that shines through a glorious multicolored wave of the ocean. If one continues to

look at nature in her beauty, and for a few minutes appreciate what is in front of you then one can become aware of one’s breath and know that you are alive.
