Auntie Kayte
Award-winning singer/songwriter, Auntie Kayte, creates songs and stories that teach children to love and respect themselves, others and the world around them. She enchants children with a new spin on familiar characters, while fostering creativity, positive values, conscious citizenship, and the ability to think analytically and make good choices. Auntie Kayte provides tools that help parents and teachers reinforce positive behaviors and beliefs in kids (and in themselves!). Her healing lullabies use scientific principles to foster healthy sleep for all ages. Her happy songs and stories help kids 2 through 10 figure out who they are and who they choose to be in the world. Auntie Kayte wants every child to feel loved and valued, and that their opinions, ideas and choices matter.
Kayte started performing and writing songs in middle school and high school, including penning her first recorded song, Lullaby of Hope, for her younger siblings when she was 16. She studied voice at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and continued performing through graduate school in Southern California, with a couple years in between spent bumming around Europe with a guitar. Then life took her on a completely different trajectory working with at-risk youth in Long Beach, CA for a number of years before returning to the creative arts in photography and writing.
Auntie Kayte has been performing at schools, libraries, family festivals and other venues around Southern California since 2012.
Auntie Kayte’s CD “Rufus the Unicorn and Other Upside Down Fairytale Songs”, a collection of original uplifting children’s songs, has won awards from Parents Choice Foundation, Creative Child Magazine, Family Choice and a National Parenting Products Award. It is available at AuntieKayte.com, CDBaby.com, Amazon, iTunes or in Long Beach at Fingerprints or Lil Devil Boutique.
