Alyssandra Nighswonger
Nighswonger’s newest release is a cover of the classic, Rainbow Connection, recorded in April 2020 – just after everything had shut down and a heavy uncertainty lingered in the air. This song is a time capsule of that moment, and the effort to spread a little joy.
In March 2020, Nighswonger Sings Nilsson was released, a tribute to the great Harry Nilsson, also recorded at Big Ego Studio. Since then, it has been reviewed on Aquarium Drunkard, Vinyl Rewind, and The Big Takeover. It is still available on colored vinyl on Bandcamp, and select SoCal record stores.
Alyssandra is active in her musical community in Long Beach. Since the pandemic started, she has been hosting a series of zoom open mics and now livestream variety shows aimed at keeping a supportive space for local artists to keep creating and stay connected – it’s been a lot. She hosted an Open Mic at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach, CA for 10 years. She has collaborated with local indie acts, The Dovelles, Lucky Penny, Ellen Warkentine and the Balboa Amusement Company Orchestra. In 2012, she embarked on a 1,450-mile music-tour by bicycle down the West Coast from Seattle, WA to Long Beach, CA and somehow made it all the way home in one piece.
She also has a secret talent where she can sing like a chicken, but she has to get to know you better first.
