1 Shine Youth
1 Shine Youth Services began in 2011 out of a need to provide the youth and teens of Long Beach, Compton, and surrounding communities with opportunities to receive quality academic, leadership, and performing arts curriculum. Keli Berry and her husband Terence Berry opened the 1 Shine Youth Center as a safe haven to help keep kids off the street and help them channel their talents into positivity. Every day, the kids come to the youth center and are provided breakfast, lunch and often dinner. The group’s goal is to provide leadership skills through performing arts, including dancing and music.
Our programs provide youth with emotional support, guidance, and the group is like an extended family. Our goal is to show the youth that there is more to life than the hand they have been dealt, and through hard work, faith and determination, they can enhance the quality of their life and achieve their dreams and goals. Many members of the group have experiended hardships, and being a part of the1 Shine has shown them more of the world than they have ever experienced.
The members of 1 Shine Youth are a group of hard-working youth and teens who have dedicated their young lives to being youth ambassadors for their community and being the change they wish to see in the world.
