Good news for the vibrant arts community of Long Beach! ArtsLB is thrilled to announce that our annual grant applications are officially open, inviting local artists and organizations to bring their creative visions to life. We are offering three distinct grant opportunities: the Organization Grant, the Community Project Grant, and the Professional Artist Fellowship Grant. Each grant is designed to support the arts in unique and impactful ways, fostering growth, innovation, and connection within our community.

We are excited to offer technical assistance workshops this May for those looking to make a significant impact through community projects or to further their artistic practice. These sessions will be held over Zoom, focusing on applicants for the Community Project Grants and Professional Artist Fellowship Grants. These workshops are a fantastic opportunity to gain insights into the grant application process, ask questions, and refine your proposals with guidance from our experienced team. Organization Grant applicants are not left out, as they can benefit from personalized support through one-on-one meetings with our grants team. These sessions are designed to help your application shine, ensuring your project or organization makes the most of this opportunity.

Mark your calendars – the deadline for all grant applications is Friday, June 14, 2024. This is your chance to be part of Long Beach’s flourishing arts scene, made possible by the generous funding from the City of Long Beach. We are deeply grateful for their continued support, which allows us to champion the arts and artists in our beloved community. Whether you’re an individual artist dreaming of your next project, a community group with a vision for engagement, or an organization looking to make a broader impact, these grants are here to turn your aspirations into reality.

About the Arts Council for Long Beach’s Grant Programs
The Professional Artist Fellowships recognize Long Beach artists who live, work, or actively create in Long Beach and demonstrate an exhibition or production record of at least three years. Awards are granted based on artistic merit and professional achievement. The 2024 fellows are Mike Alonso Alcala, Brian Doan, Graham Goddard, Cameron Johnston, Ashley L. Jones, Julia Mata, Alyssandra Nighswonger, Zaret Guadalupe Proa, Mister Toledo, and Jacqueline Valenzuela. Arts Fellows will be honored with an exhibition at the new Billie Jean King Main Library opening this fall.

The Community Project Grant program funds innovative programming and cultural projects that serve our communities. The following 18 organizations are awarded: Act Out Theatre Company, Cambodia Town Inc., Cityheart Incorporated, Compassionate Artists, Garage Theatre, Hmong Association of Long Beach Incorporated, Jewel Box Children’s Theater Company, Kontrapunktus Neo-Baroque Chamber Orchestra, Literary Women The Long Beach Festival Of Authors, Long Beach Blues Society, Long Beach Creative Group, Long Beach Youth Chorus, Musique Sur La Mer Orchestras, South Coast Dance Arts Alliance Inc., The Carpenter Performing Arts Center, The Infinite Stage, The LGBTQ Center Long Beach, and The Rock Club-Music Is The Remedy. These organizations not only present rich programming but also provide free events for the public.

Operating Grants provide unrestricted support to arts and cultural organizations that collect, preserve, present, or commission exemplary works of art (e.g., visual art exhibitions, theatre, dance, or musical performances). This year, the Arts Council awarded the following organizations: Able ARTS Work; Art Theatre of Long Beach; Carolyn Campagna Kleefeld Contemporary Art Museum; and Historical Society of Long Beach. It is important for us to continue to offer this kind of support since there are a limited number of foundations that provide operational funds. Many of our grantees use these funds to offset costs for educational and community programs.
