The stage backdrop for the Arts Council’s annual State of the Arts event will be a portion of the huge painting created by KEEP LBC FIT with local artists, expected to be named the largest glow-in-the-dark painting by the Guinness Book of World Records. This was a community collaboration with 16 artists from the ArtExchange and Squeeze Art Collective, including Jay Blaine, Danny G, Dire One, Ivan Espinosa, Claudio Garzon, Saul Hernandez, Nat Iosbaker, Jumakae, Kenny McBride, Tracy Negrete, Katie Phillips, Cassandra Rowden, Jon Rowden, Santiago Sanchez, Anna Schoendorfer and Lane Smith. The painting was a creative component of a Dance + 5K Run fundraiser for the homeless organization Back on My Feet. The collaborative efforts were headed by downtown exercise maven Giovanna Ferraro, owner of Groundwork Fitness, who said, “As a small business owner, it is my job to be involved, collaborate and give back to the very community that I belong to.” To attend State of the Arts, please RSVP to info@artslb.org.
