Designed by Sue Hertel, and lead construction by Denis O’Connor, Millard Sheets’ mosaic depicts various times from the history of Long Beach depicting Tongva natives, three-masted ships, people who lived and worked on the ranchos, ending with workmen and oil derricks in the background. This mural was once covered with paint, but has since been restored and is on display again.
