Will Rogers Bench
Stanton MacDonald Wright & Albert King
WPA/FAP artists were encouraged by their supervisors and by their sponsors (in this case the LB Board of Education) to depict subjects within the context of the institution of setting. This bench, dedicated to the life of Will Rogers, was designed and erected to commemorate the 1940 renaming of Lowell Junior High to Will Rogers Junior High School (aka Middle School). This bench is comprised of three sections. A slab seat is held up by four “feet.” The back is also in three sections, each a full slab of decorated concrete-derived petrachrome from top to bottom.
