Reading is an Adventure was created by Guillermo Avalos with the help of students from Bret Harte Elementary School. The mural looks like a large children’s drawing with Earth at the center, almost like a small lake with islands. Children stand around dressed in a variety of costumes including a princess, a superhero, an astronaut, and a wizard. So much color adds to the active foreground and background as airplanes and UFOs fly by, shooting stars streak the sky, and the sun comes out from behind a cloud to say, “Hello!” This mural encourages children to read as adventures are endless when reading.
