In presence is the answer.
We are inundated with questions:
Am I doing enough? Will I be safe? Am I a good person? What is truth?
In my art, I sit. I sit with this questions and I connect with the essence of people in a flash of a moment of their life. Staring in the eyes of a human being; it is all there- their greatness, their failures, and the heartbeat that encircles everything. I connect with that dance.
As I sit in the presence of another, I feel the wisdom of their lives, the stories they tell through their bodies. I take it in and then I let it out.
In sitting with the mess of human being, I experience the chest-opening lightness of beauty and a galvanizing sense of renewal.
It is my hope to give presence to people’s lives through my work so they can sit with the anguish, the thirst, and the dream, and find an answer in that dance.
