Dickscoveries

What began as a simple pastime amid the solitude of pandemic lockdowns has blossomed into a vibrant career for Christopher since moving to Long Beach in 2020. Through his artistic venture aptly named, “Dickscoveries,” Christopher has emerged as a prominent figure in the realm of homoerotic art, captivating audiences with his unique blend of wit, humor, and progressive social commentary.

Since establishing himself in Long Beach, Christopher’s artistic journey has been marked by a series of notable achievements and collaborations. His artwork has earned acclaim in prestigious international exhibitions and festivals including being a featured artist at Tom of Finland Arts and Culture Festival in both 2022 and 2023. These milestones have firmly established Christopher’s presence in the world of queer erotic art, showcasing his talent and vision to a global audience.

In addition to his exhibition successes, Christopher has forged collaborations with iconic brands such as Playboy, seamlessly blending his passion for art with commercial endeavors. His work not only sustains his artistic passion but also serves as a profound outlet for expressing his identity as a gay man, challenging societal norms and fostering dialogue about sexuality.

As Christopher embarks on the rebranding journey of Dickscoveries, he finds himself drawn back to the memories of his formative years. Growing up on a military base in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Christopher’s upbringing was imbued with the rugged charm of the Wild West. It was amidst this backdrop of riding cattle at rodeos, line-dancing, country music, and early morning camping trips with his dad that he first began to secretly process and explore his identity as a gay person.

Despite the conservative settling of his upbringing, Christopher found solace in the diversity of his father’s military friends, whose presence exposed him to a rich tapestry of cultures and perspectives as well as seeing women in national security leadership roles. These early experiences instilled a deep appreciation for the resilience of women, unconventional love and the importance of authenticity in self-expression.

Now, amidst the hustle and bustle of Downtown Long Beach, Christopher often finds himself reflecting on the allure of a simpler, more natural existence. His fantasies of a world where love knows no bounds inspired his inaugural exhibition, “Outlaws in Love,” a poignant collection that challenges societal norms and celebrates the enduring power of love beyond social confines.

Through “Outlaws in Love,” Christopher invites viewers on a journey through the complexities of queer domesticity, where intimacy and authenticity reign supreme. Each piece serves as a testament to the resilience of homosexual relationships, urging us to reconsider the boundaries of convention and embrace the beauty of love in all its forms.

As Christopher prepares to showcase his collection as a featured artist for the Arts Council of Long Beach at the 2024 Long Beach Pride, he eagerly anticipates the opportunity to share his vision with a wider audience- a vision rooted in the profound intersection of art, identity, and the enduring quest for love and acceptance.
