On Friday, February 8, 5 to 7 p.m. Cam Town Art Gallery will open with its very first exhibition featuring emerging artists from the Living Arts Collective alongside established artists Dave Van Patten and Annie Nak. The gallery is located inside the United Cambodian Community building, 2201 East Anaheim Street, Suite 200, Long Beach, CA 90804.
In the mid 70’s, the Cambodian community suffered catastrophic losses during the Khmer Rouge genocide. Many people were killed, including artists, teachers, and doctors – anyone educated or expressing individuality.
Forty years later, the Cambodian community here in Long Beach is still recovering. Cam Town Art Gallery is a part of that recovery. It will give a voice to new artists from all minority communities. Hours will be Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The gallery aims to present 4 to 7 presentations per year, with a range of solo and group shows that enrich Cambodia Town.
