Officer Daryle W. Black was fatally wounded on April 29, 2000, in the line of duty. At the request of the community, the park located at 2023 Pasadena Avenue was named in honor of Officer Black who regularly patrolled the neighborhood and was a positive influence in the lives of many local young people. The park features a bronze sculpture of a police officer seated on a park bench, keeping watch over neighborhood children.
